Important Information for 7th-12th Grade Virtual Students:
Expectations for Virtual Students for students in grades 7.docx (If you cant open the document above, the information from the document is below as well) Expectations for 7th – 12th Grade Virtual Students
· Virtual students should check their school email at least twice a day (morning and afternoon) since communication between teachers and students is vitally important to the success of the student.
· Virtual students should also check their landing page for each course daily. This is the place virtual students can find their assignments for each course for that day (most teachers have a calendar with assignments listed).
· Virtual students should be logging in and working every day as though they were attending school. Students attending face-to-face instruction spend approximately 45 minutes in each course, so virtual students should expect to spend a similar amount of time working in each course each day. Submitting assignments daily for grading is essential for virtual academic success.
· Virtual students should reach out immediately to their teacher through email if they are having any difficulty with the understanding or the submission of an assignment.
· On Virtual Wednesdays, all virtual students will still have assignments that are due and should be submitted on that day. This is also the day that virtual students may reach out to their classroom teachers for additional help.
· Virtual tutoring is available by appointment on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday afternoons from 3:00 – 5:00. The following teachers may be contacted through email for tutoring support:
Mrs. Tonder – ktonder@monroe.k12.al.us – 7th and 8th Grade English
Mrs. Ledkins – cledkins@monroe.k12.al.us – 7th and 8th Grade Math
Mrs. James – rjames@monroe.k12.al.us – 9th – 12th Grade English
Dr. Bullard – lbullard@monroe.k12.al.us – 9th – 12th Grade Math
Mrs. Lint – elint@monroe.k12.al.us – 9th – 12th Grade Math
Mrs. Turberville – cturberville@monroe.k12.al.us – 9th – 12th Grade Science
Mr. Wilborn – jwilborn@monroe.k12.al.us – 9th – 12th Grade Social Studies
· The deadline for submitting ALL virtual assignments for that week is Friday by midnight. Zeros will be entered for any incomplete assignments after the deadline (this is a major change from 1st semester).
· Virtual students who are not logging in and submitting their virtual assignments will be considered truant, and their names will be given to the Juvenile Probation Officer for truancy.
· Parents should be aware that the grade and progress they see in the Buzz/PLP program is not an accurate reflection of their child’s actual grade in the course. To check your child’s current progress in each course, you will need to log in to Parent Portal. If you do not currently have Parent Portal, you will need to stop by the school and see your child’s counselor.
· If you have any issues or problems with email communication, please do not hesitate to call the school at 575-6105 and speak to the administrator or counselor. Attention Parents of Virtual Students:
